Photography and Time
Photography can be compared to time because of the fact that a photo is a snippet of time. A picture is a tool used to capture a moment in time that will allow the person to recall that memory. The picture stops time for the image even though time and life itself continues to move on. A photo has the unique ability to capture a scene in that very moment. Yes the image can be manipulated and altered but the image is meant to be for the individual who is capturing the image. So i feel that yes the image can be trusted, but for the individual who the image is important to.

I believe that your statement about how the image can be trusted by the person who it is important to may be true in some cases but not that it actually can. It may be important to them but it still has the possibility of misrepresenting.
ReplyDeletei strongly agree with your point that the image can be trusted by the person who took it is true but i also believe that everyone who looks at the picture will notice a different thing, for example the photographer in Blow Up would see the people and would make the outragous assumptions of the boy and the other characters, but i would look at the picture and see something completely different, This is because art, no matter what form we are talking about, is always in the eyes of the veiwer, each person has different memories and experiences which interpret how you see something or the angle at which you view it.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with your point that the picture can be trusted by the person who took it, but i think that every iduvidual has his opinion to the image. That is because each person has different feelings and memories to different views.
